Cut Calories Wasted on Drinks

Without making big changes in what you eat, lose weight by changing what you drink. In recent years supersized sodas and calorie rich coffee drinks boost daily calorie counts excessively. The sugary drinks serve as liquid candy. Here's what to change to save hundreds of calories every day.

Got milk? Switch to skim milk from drinking 2% milk. Right away it saves 42 calories for 8 ounces.

Trying to break a soda addiction isn't easy. Switching from regular soda to diet soda cuts hundreds of calories. It can take about a week or 10 days to adjust to the taste difference. A small soda is no longer small. It's the size that used to be called large.

There's a big difference between a cup of coffee with a little cream and sugar and the fancy coffee drinks now widely available. Save a couple of hundred calories on a single latte by skipping the flavoring and whipped cream and getting the small latte with skim milk.

Most of us don't exercise hard enough to need sports drinks with electrolytes. Drink water.
